🔄 Rotate Image
Client-Side OnlyWhat Is Image Rotation?
Image rotation turns a photo or graphic around its center by a chosen angle, without cropping or removing any of the visible content. It's the fix you need when a photo was taken sideways or upside down, when a scanned document came out tilted, or when you simply want a different orientation for a layout. Rotation is different from flipping, which mirrors an image instead of turning it, though both can be combined.
NexaTools Image Rotator redraws your image onto an HTML5 canvas at the angle you choose, entirely inside your browser. Use the one-click presets for the most common 90°, 180° and 270° turns, or drag the slider for any angle in between.

Sideways phone photos

Tilted scans
Straighten a scanned document or receipt that came out at an angle.
Layout orientation

Privacy: Why Browser-Based Rotation Matters
Many online rotators require uploading your image to a remote server before returning a result, which means your file briefly or sometimes permanently lives on someone else's infrastructure. NexaTools Image Rotator avoids that entirely. The rotation happens locally using your browser's Canvas API, so your file never leaves your device, there's no server round-trip, and nothing about your image is logged or stored anywhere.
Tips for Getting the Best Results
1. Use the presets for exact right angles
If you just need a clean 90°, 180° or 270° turn, the preset buttons are faster and more precise than the slider.
2. Combine rotation with flip for mirrored shots
Some photos need both a turn and a mirror to look correct switch on flip horizontal or vertical alongside your chosen angle.
3. Watch the new dimensions
Rotating by 90° or 270° swaps width and height check the "New Dimensions" readout if you need the output to fit a specific layout.
4. JPG backgrounds fill white
Since JPG doesn't support transparency, any empty corners created by an off-angle rotation are filled white. Use PNG or WebP if you need a transparent background instead.
Common Problems & Troubleshooting
Running into an issue while rotating your image? Here are fixes for the most common problems:
⚠️ White or empty corners after rotating
This is expected for any angle that isn't a multiple of 90° the canvas expands to fit the full rotated image. Use PNG or WebP for a transparent background instead of white.
⚠️ Image orientation looks unchanged
Make sure the angle slider or a preset button shows a non-zero value, and check the live preview updates before clicking "Rotate Image".
⚠️ "Could not rotate this image"
The file may be corrupted or in an unsupported format. Confirm it's a valid JPG, PNG, or WebP file and try again.
⚠️ File larger than 20 MB
Very large images aren't supported in-browser. Try compressing the image first, then rotate it.
⚠️ Live preview not updating
Try re-selecting a preset angle or moving the slider slightly the preview refreshes automatically on any change.
⚠️ Download button doesn't work
Some browsers block automatic downloads from JavaScript. Check your browser's download permissions or pop-up settings for this site.
