Client-Side OnlyWhat Is Image Resizing?
Image resizing changes the pixel dimensions of a photo or graphic how many pixels wide and tall it is without cropping or removing any of the visible content. That's different from cropping, which cuts part of the image away, and different from compression, which reduces file size while keeping the same dimensions. Resizing is what you need when a platform, layout, or document expects a specific width and height, such as a 1200Γ630 social banner or an 800px-wide product thumbnail.
NexaTools Image Resizer redraws your image onto an HTML5 canvas at the new size you choose, entirely inside your browser. You can either type an exact width and height in pixels, or use the percentage mode to scale the whole image up or down proportionally.

Privacy-conscious users who prefer a resizer that never uploads images to a server.
Common Use Cases
Here are a few everyday situations where resizing an image comes in handy:
Marketplace listings
Match the exact pixel dimensions required by Amazon, Etsy, or other selling platforms.
Social media sizing
Scale a photo to fit a profile picture, cover banner, or post format precisely.
Faster web pages
Shrink oversized images down to the display size your website actually needs.
Email & document attachments
Scale down large photos so they fit neatly into emails, forms, or reports.
Privacy: Why Browser-Based Resizing Matters
Many online resizers require uploading your image to a remote server before returning a result, which means your file briefly or sometimes permanently lives on someone else's infrastructure. NexaTools Image Resizer avoids that entirely. The resize happens locally using your browser's Canvas API, so your file never leaves your device, there's no server round-trip, and nothing about your image is logged or stored anywhere.
Tips for Getting the Best Results
1. Keep the aspect ratio lock on
Unless you specifically want to stretch or squash an image, leave the lock enabled so your resized image keeps its original proportions.
2. Shrinking looks better than enlarging
Reducing an image's size preserves detail well. Enlarging a small image beyond its original size can look soft, since no new detail is created just more pixels covering the same detail.
3. Match the size to where you'll use it
Website banners, social posts and profile pictures all have different ideal dimensions. Resize to the platform's recommended size to avoid unnecessary cropping or blur.
4. Use percentage for quick proportional scaling
If you just need an image "a bit smaller" without calculating exact pixels, the percentage mode is the fastest way to scale it down while automatically keeping proportions.
Common Problems & Troubleshooting
Running into an issue while resizing your image? Here are fixes for the most common problems:
β οΈ Image looks blurry or soft after resizing
This happens when enlarging an image beyond its original dimensions no new detail can be created, only more pixels covering the same detail. Try shrinking a larger source image instead.
β οΈ Image looks stretched or squashed
The aspect ratio lock was likely turned off with mismatched width and height values. Re-enable "Maintain aspect ratio" and re-enter one dimension.
β οΈ "Could not resize this image"
The file may be corrupted or in an unsupported format. Confirm it's a valid JPG, PNG, or WebP file and try again.
β οΈ File larger than 20 MB
Very large images aren't supported in-browser. Try compressing the image first, then resize it.
β οΈ Live preview or dimensions not updating
Make sure a valid number is entered in the width or height fields. Empty or zero values won't update the preview.
β οΈ Download button doesn't work
Some browsers block automatic downloads from JavaScript. Check your browser's download permissions or pop-up settings for this site.
