What Is a JSON Formatter?
A JSON formatter takes raw or minified JSON text and rearranges it with proper indentation and line breaks so the structure is easy to follow at a glance. It also checks whether the text is valid JSON, flagging issues like missing commas, unquoted keys, or unbalanced brackets before they cause problems elsewhere in your workflow.
The NexaTools JSON Formatter runs the entire process locally in your browser. Nothing you paste is sent to a server, so it's safe to use with API responses, configuration files, or other data you'd rather keep private.

Why Use This JSON Tool
Private by design. Your JSON never leaves your browser or touches a server.
Instant results. Formatting and validation happen the moment you click, no waiting on a backend.
100% free. No signup, no usage limits, no watermark on the output.
Works everywhere. Fully responsive on desktop, tablet and mobile browsers.
Who Should Use This Tool
This JSON formatter is built for anyone who reads, edits, or ships JSON and wants a quick, reliable way to check it. That includes:
Developers inspecting an API response or webhook payload that arrived as a single unreadable line.
Freelancers and agencies cleaning up config files or data payloads for client handoffs.
Students and hobbyists learning how JSON is structured and wanting quick feedback on their syntax.
Anyone without dev tools installed who needs to format or validate JSON without opening a terminal or IDE.
Common Use Cases
Debugging API responses. Beautify a minified payload so it's readable while you track down an issue.
Shrinking JSON for production. Minify a config or data file to cut its size before shipping it.
Checking syntax before deploying. Validate JSON to catch a stray comma or bracket before it breaks a build.
Documentation and tutorials. Format JSON examples cleanly for docs, code reviews, or teaching material.
Common Problems & Troubleshooting
Validate says my JSON is invalid. Look for trailing commas, missing quotes around keys, or unclosed brackets the error message points to where the problem is.
Copy button doesn't seem to work. Some browsers block clipboard access until you interact with the page first; click anywhere on the page, then try Copy Result again.
Nothing happens when I click Format or Minify. Make sure you've pasted content into the input box the tool needs something to process.
The page feels slow with a huge JSON file. Very large files (several MB) run entirely in your browser, so processing can take a moment.
