Free Online Hash Generator

The NexaTools Hash Generator computes MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384 and SHA-512 hashes from any text, entirely inside your browser. Hashes are useful for verifying file integrity, checking password hashing examples, or generating checksums for data comparison.

All algorithms run using your browser's built-in Web Crypto API (for the SHA family) and a lightweight local MD5 implementation, so your text is never transmitted anywhere.

How to Generate a Hash

Enter your text

Type or paste the text you want to hash.

Click Generate

All five hash algorithms are computed at once.

Copy any hash

Each result has its own one-click copy button.

Why Use This Hash Tool

Fully local. Hashing happens on your device, nothing is uploaded.

All algorithms at once. MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384 and SHA-512 together.

One-click copy. Copy any individual hash instantly.

Always free. No signup, no rate limits.

Who Should Use This Tool

This hash generator is built for anyone who needs a quick checksum or hash value without installing software. That includes:

Developers who need to generate a hash for a config value, cache key, or code example while testing or debugging.

Students and learners studying how hashing algorithms like MD5 and SHA work, or comparing algorithm output side by side.

Anyone verifying documentation or tutorials that reference a specific hash value and want to confirm it against their own input text.

Anyone without dev tools installed who wants to generate a hash without opening a terminal or writing a script.

Common Use Cases

Generating cache keys or identifiers. Turn a piece of text into a fixed-length hash for use as a lookup key.

Comparing text for changes. Hash two versions of a text snippet to quickly check whether the content is identical.

Learning and teaching. Generate side-by-side MD5 and SHA hashes to see how output length and format differ between algorithms.

Testing and debugging. Quickly get a hash value for a test string while building or debugging an application.

Common Problems & Troubleshooting

Nothing happens when I click Generate Hashes. Make sure you've entered text in the input box first; the tool shows an error message if the field is empty.

My hash doesn't match one I found elsewhere. Hashes are case-sensitive to the input text, so check for extra spaces, line breaks, or different capitalization in what you typed versus the original source.

The copy button doesn't seem to work. Some browsers block clipboard access until you've clicked somewhere on the page first; click the page, then try the copy button again.

I need to hash a file, not text. This tool currently accepts text input only paste the file's text content if applicable, or use it for hash examples and learning purposes.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. All hashing is computed locally in your browser using the Web Crypto API and a local MD5 implementation. Nothing is sent to a server.
For security-sensitive purposes, use SHA-256 or higher, MD5 and SHA-1 are considered cryptographically broken and are included here mainly for compatibility and legacy checks.
This tool currently hashes text input only. Paste the file's text content, or use it to check hash examples for documentation and learning.
Yes, hash output is shown in lowercase hexadecimal, which is the standard format used by most tools and systems.
